composting toilets for sale

Composting Toilets & Accessories For Sale

We sell Nature Loo & Sun-Mar composting toilets & accessories.
Composting toilets are an ideal solution in rural areas as they do not use valuable water and there is no risk of polluting waterways & water tables.
The Nature Loo & Sun-Mar range of composting toilets meet relevant Australian standards & health requirements.
Compost toilets are our latest passion. Why flush away when you can save and store all those nutrients for use on your garden, allotment or orchard? We at Freerange Designs are taking compost toilets in new directions, designing and building beautiful places to poo using effective composting science and no smell, no hassle solutions. Our compost toilets are bespoke poo palaces, places to sit and ponder. The timber is sourced from local, sustainably managed woodlands close to our workshop in Wales and the final product is affordable, easy to self assemble and environmentally sound.

Compost Toilets - Self Contained Electric Units
Self-contained compost toilets are easy to install and they use no water!  The compost toilets you see here are electric units only, meaning they must be plugged into a 110V outlet, but we also offer compost toilets that are non-electric, as well.  The electrical features of the compost toilets below include a thermostatically controlled heater to evaporate liquid and a fan assembly that maintains odorless operation.  For units that feature a more traditional looking toilet in the bathroom, please visit our category of central system compost toilets.

Sun-Mar Composting Toilets
Composting with Sun-Mar Working like the compost heap in the backyard, but odorlessly and much faster, Sun-Mar toilets break down human waste and toilet paper through the natural process of decomposition. Because most of this waste is evaporated, only a very limited quantity of finished compost is produced.

Oxygen, moisture, heat and organic material are needed to allow minute natural organisms to transform the waste to fertilizing soil. Oxygen is provided by drum rotation and by the ventilation system. Moisture is obtained directly from human waste. Organic material in the form of peat moss is added manually, since this organic carbon is absorbent, holds oxygen, and is cheap and readily available. Heat is generated by the compost itself, assisted by the heating element (on electric models). Microbes are contained in the rich top soil which is added to the compost.

The Excel toilet series optimizes the natural processes of decomposition and evaporation in a fully self-contained unit small enough to fit in a camper or cabin. And because no chemicals are used, the composted material can be tilled into the soil without fear of environmental contamination. The NSF listed Excel, plugs into a 110 outlet and incorporates a 2" vent with an internal electric fan and a thermostatically controlled heating element. The Excel NE (non-electric) relies on a larger 4" vent for evaporation and elimination of any restroom odors. Each toilet includes venting material and start-up supplies of Compost Sure, Microbe Mix and Compost Quick. An optional fan for the Excel NE is also available to more rapidly dissipate odors.

For periodic use in winter, the toilet may be used as a holding tank, until the compost warms up, and the microbes emerge from dormancy. Electric units should be plugged in on arrival so the ventilation system is working and there will be no odor. When the compost is frozen, the drum should not be rotated.
